2022 Women of Inspiration
WISE Twin Cities Awards Luncheon

Thursday, November 10
11:30 - 1:30pm
The Depot Minneapolis

WISE Twin Cities was excited to finally return to hosting Women of Inspiration, in person! Thank you to our host and hospitality partner, The Depot Minneapolis, for welcoming us and hosting a great event. We enjoyed reconnecting with one another and had the privilege of hearing and learning from the stories of our honored award recipients.

Our 2022 Keynote and Woman of Inspiration, Meredith Lang, shared her story of having a mentor "Lift as you climb....She elevated me to create a space to live out my purpose...to be a leader of people...The Hockey Ninas, Minnesota Unbounded, Mosaic Hockey Collective started out of a need for leadership and taking care of those BIPOC families in my charge...". Meredith has looked to create a positive experience and increase participation in these non traditional sports. Through her work we are all inspired to do more for our communities and innovate within our day to day lives.

Thank you to our members, partners, and community for coming together and celebrating these incredible trailblazers.

2022 Woman of Inspiration & Keynote
Meredith Lang, Hockey Ninas, Minnesota Unbounded, Founder
Meredith Lang is a hockey enthusiast and played hockey in high school but left it behind to pursue a track and field career that carried her to the 2004 U.S. Olympic trials. Then, Lang's daughter wanted to play hockey and laced up as the only Black girl on her team. It was the same struggle with feeling unseen that Lang had experienced in hockey, unspooling decades later upon a new generation. Only now, Lang felt equipped to do something about it. That's where Minnesota Unbounded and Hockey Ninas was created. Hockey Ninas' goal is to make the game more inclusive to BIPOC girls; Minnesota Unbounded is a tournament team showcasing those players. For her work to make hockey more inclusive for BIPOC girls, Meredith was a finalist for NHL's 2022 Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award.
