WISE TC Leadership Panel: Empowering Teams, Influencing Culture and Elevating Presence with Premier Performance Advising

Join WISE Twin Cities and Premier Performance Advising for a dynamic panel focused on the ever-changing sports industry! Through insights inspired by the 2024 WISETC Leadership Cohort, our panelists will explore the powerful role of leadership presence in empowering teams and advocating for change within organizations. Panelists will discuss how to influence culture from within, inspire high levels of engagement, and foster an environment where teams can flourish. Expect to gain a deeper understanding of how to lead with intention and influence, driving lasting change and creating a culture of accountability and excellence.

Stay after the panel for small group networking. Participants will be broken up into groups of 3-4 to network, discuss their own professional journeys, and reflect the advice and guidance of the featured panel.

Discussion Moderated by Cathy Winter, President and Executive Leadership Advisor of Premier Sport Psychology

Cathy is an accomplished executive development advisor and the President of Premier Sport Psychology/Premier Performance Advising. She combines extensive industry experience with talent consulting to bring a unique perspective to her work, blending real-world business insights with assessment and development expertise to drive success for executives and teams alike.

Cathy has coached leaders at all levels – with an emphasis on C-suite executives and their teams - in Fortune 500, sports organizations, and global firms.Before joining Premier, she was a Partner at Korn Ferry where she consulted across industries in the CEO assessment, succession, and leadership development practices. Her prior roles included leadership positions in Operations, and Sales, and Human Resources. 

Cathy frequently speaks on pressing leadership topics and is known for the lively energy of her presentations and her thought-provoking approach with diverse audiences.With an emphasis on the unique context and challenges each organization and its leaders face, she helps them recognize and seize opportunities to enhance their influence, inspire their teams, and drive performance. Her client work at Premier involves leadership consultation, presentations, and executive coaching for business and professional sport organizations, including franchises in the MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL and NWSL.

Alexis Russell Kochanski

Healthcare Strategy Leader

Alexis Russell Kochanski started her career in the political landscape, being appointed to the Minnesota Governor’s cabinet in various roles, including with the Department of Labor and Department of Human Services. She has since transitioned from the political landscape into a Healthcare leadership role in corporate, where she oversees strategic plan and growth initiatives.

Outside of her multifaceted professional life, Alexis is a very active alumni of the University of Minnesota. Alexis was a four-time letterwinner for Gopher Gymnastics between 2006 and 2010. During her time in the maroon and gold, she was a two-time All-Big Ten First Team recipient and qualified for the NCAA Championships in her final year. Alexis currently serves as a member of the Leadership U Advisory Group, providing insights on the strategic vision of programming to best support and prepare Gopher student-athletes for their careers.

Becca Glass

Finance Controller

Becca Glass most recently has been with FanDuel Sports Network/Bally Sports/FOX Sports for 14 years and served as the Director of Finance managing shared services and helping the company transition to an independent entity. 

Becca has a joint accounting and finance degree from the University of Denver, as well as an MBA from the University of Minnesota. 

Becca currently resides with her family in Mendota Heights where she coaches her kids’ hockey teams and enjoys playing broomball, waterskiing, and running marathons.

Laura Shingler

Senior Director, Product Development and Lifecycle Marketing, Minnesota United FC

Laura has over a decade of sponsorship and marketing experience in the sports and health and wellness industries. As the Senior Director of Product Development and Lifecycle Marketing at Minnesota United FC, she drives revenue growth across corporate partnerships, ticketing, premium hospitality, and non-gameday rentals through strategic, data-driven decisions.

Prior to her current role, Laura served as the Senior Director of Partnership Marketing for MNUFC, where she led a team to execute interactive marketing strategies for corporate partners. Before that, she was a Marketing Manager at Life Time, focusing on CRM, lifecycle, and personalized marketing campaigns to enhance revenue growth.

Outside of work, Laura is a member of the Board of Directors for V3 Sports. She enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband, Josh, and their rescue dog, Stella.

Melissa Caruso

General Manager, Minnesota Frost

Melissa Caruso was appointed General Manager of the Minnesota Frost in September 2024. As a resident of St. Paul, Caruso most recently served as Vice President of Hockey Operations and Governance at the AHL, a position she began in 2019. In her role, she oversaw the off-ice aspects of the AHL’s day-to-day operations, and managed the league’s central player registry and handled by-laws, regulations, and player eligibility, while working closely with the Board of Governors.
